Workforce Development Work Group Meeting Minutes

In attendance: Alice Depot, Richard Hurst, Melissa Jarvis, Patricia Jones, Mike Laman, Karen Luik, Jim Maynard, John Merullo, Suzanne Rickles, LeRoy Robinson, and Mary Wagoner.

Work Group's Great Brainstorming Suggestions:

Open Job Lab Promotion
Open Job Labs need generic system flyers that describe what the service provides and simply lists locations with a request to contact for dates and times.
Each location needs to do a locations specific flyer for the local community. Mary will follow up with logos from Laurie.
Request a blurb into the local media, including television, by Communications.
Reorganize our website and design it to reflect the service priorities.
Locations will share information from Workforce Solutions's flyers distributed at meeting with local groups.

Open job Lab Procedures and Forms
Mary will post the power point used for training related to Open Job Labs. This includes general guidelines for operating the class and helpful tips. Mary will create a sign in sheet; or location can use the BTOP sign in sheet.
Mary will follow up by posting the Power Point to the blog.

Open Job Lab Stats
Use the link on this site to enter Open Lab statistics.

BTOP Statistics
Please ask BTOP staff to record and report their statistics to Nicole. Mary will follow up with Nicole to see if they have a worksheet for reporting BTOP statistics.

Workforce Solutions
Managers really like the information sheet about the seminars that was distributed.
Need more Spanish speaking presenters. Mary will follow up.
Presenters need to check in and out with staff so staff can assist with any questions and capture any statistics.
Need more options for days and times. Tuesday morning and Thursday afternoons limit audience size.
Schedule seminars for July and August now.

Programming
Life Skills classes - Who is doing it? What is their expertise?
Dress for Success classes.
Business Start Up classes
Increase partnership with SCORE and One Stop Business Center

Thanks!
Mary
